Axa Basic health insurance covers emergency treatment only.
Axa Complex health insurance covers emergency treatment and GPs visits etc.
Complex health insurance covers state health clinics, GPs etc.
The insurance covers up to state health insurance limits (to a maximum of 60,000 Euro) and will not pay for full cover at private clinics.
The insurance covers emergancy dental treatment "to relieve pain".
The insurance does not cover cosmetic dental work.
Example:
The insurance will cover the repair or implemenation of a filling but will not cover the cost of the colour of the filling.
Up to 200 Euro on dental
There is no deductible on this insurance.
First of all, the insurance would give you the same level of insurance as a Slovak citizen would get under the Slovakian state health system.
This insurance does not cover expensive expat clinics.
Complex health insurance gives you up to 60,000 Euros of cover (with zero deductible).
Axa Health insurance is very good "standard insurance".
You should contact the assistance service for contracted doctors/clinics/hospitals.
If you use none contracted clinic etc. when you pay get a receipt and file it with the assistance service for a full refund.

The insurance covers emergency treatment through the Schengen zone.
Complex cover is available in Slovakia.
Full (Complex) health cover in Slovakia covers normal GPs, clinics, hospitals and medical centers. (see terms and conditions for more information).
First of all call the assistance service.
The assistance services are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The assistance service can tell you where the insurance can be used without having to pay anything for medical treatment.
Contact the assistance service and they can "call ahead" and the clinic/doctor/hospital will be expecting you.
Contact the assistance service if you plan on going to a non contracted doctor/clinic....! This really helps when you will pay cash and plan on claiming the money back. It really helps speed up the refund process.
Call the assistance service. They can and do help!
"But I do not want to call the assistance service before I go to a doctor..."
If you do not call the assistance service before I go to the doctor then the refund process WILL be slow!
If you use a standard doctor/clinic then you will be refunded up to the state allocated budget/amount.
If you use an expensive "English speaking" clinic/doctor you will be refunded up to the state allocated budget/amount.
Contact the assistance service before you use the insurance.
